| I am extremely... bored, so I thought I would write something.
There is people who have very hard time describing their musical taste, what they like to listen. I'm one of them. Today I dusted one band I used to listen in last years of elementary school as well as made new acquaintance. Surfing on youtube I found Laura Vanamos's - Se tunne video. Laura is Finnish... artist if we can call her that, and song itself is Finnish cover to... Koharu Kasumi's song called Koi Kana? I don't relly know, but what I know is that I don't be shamed one a bit because of my ignorance.
If I'd still be in elementary school I think I'd possibly know better. Let's just take objective view on things, and things back then were like that that I was more or less annoying weaboo. And if we equally view today objectively, I haven't changed that much, I've just emulated some elite attitude and grown old hag. Mine and my little sisters difference is that, that when I in last years of elementary school listened Malice Mizer, she listen Ayumi Hamasaki, Hikaru Utada and while dancing parapara, possibly Koharu Kasumi too.
While listening Se Tunne, my first impression was like "...woou, chipmunks stike". Reading comments pointed out that I wasn't only one. Still, more I read more I started to feel bad, because sure there isn't one thing related to musical taste what would make me better person than my little sister, or any of Lauras or Koharu Kasumis fans. Of course there was one or two or several non-animanga people sharing their cultivated opinions of "j-music" itself (quotation marks because I don't think where music is done is THAT big deal). Those, mostly young men who like metal music, people used words and figures of speech I'm not willing to repeat.
Hey, I wanted to shout, MUCC isn't shit and if you would truly listen wide variety of music, you would know that. Just like many Lauras advocates have done. It may be little generalising but I dare to guess that Se Tunne pleases more younger kids and teens ear than old boringdoes like me, but heck - I was young once, and I remember how Malic Mizer was cool then and cool always. I'd like to make confession now: I think our furry little friend Gackt Camui got one of the best voices I've ever heard. I still don't mind his solo performance and think that Genesis speaking sounded weird, but Gack singing and old Malice Mizer was just great, and it damn is still even if the band was broken apart before I even knew about them.
Even if weaboos in the internet look more or retarded with all that KAWAII NEKO-CHANning going on, I know that my littlesister isn't retarded, and i think she represents average j-pop fan and more important, young and hopeful person who is still trying to find her own thing. Just like I found Malice Mizer among tons of other things which quite frankly rise abose the poor band - otherwise I wouldn't be dusting it out of my playlist.
But I guess thet teaching of this story is quite clear. I shoot myself on leg while thinking chipmunks, when me, j-pop fans and even those metal guys aren't really that different. That doesn't change my sincere opinion of Se Tunne. I'd better go party with metal guys than listen that second time. Actually, more than j-rock I love metal music - I guess that makes MUCC mix of best of both world. |
